Wan Ling Chong:  Architectural Lecturer

Since graduating from the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture programme in 2011, Wan Ling has been working as an architecture lecturer and a programme leader at Limkokwing University.

She credits the University for providing her with the right platform to explore her talents and discover her passion in architecture. “Limkokwing is a borderless University, one is free to explore their talents and there is an ample of opportunities to do so.”

“At first I was very shy to voice out my opinion, but after studying here I became more confident and learned about different cultures, and embraced their traditions.”

Wan Ling mentioned that she decided to venture into the academic line of work, because Limkokwing is the best training ground for her. “The culture of the University is just amazing, there is no other university out there that gives fresh graduates limitless opportunities.”

The highlights of her work experience include travelling to Sri Lanka and Limkokwing University’s London campus for academic moderation as well as mingling with industry professionals. “I was fortunate enough to be able to meet industry key players and well-known academicians in Malaysia and around the world.”

“With the vast experience that I gained, I am now able to lead the faculty with more than 80 professionals and over 1000 students. We have joined lots of events and competitions, and our students have garnered lots of awards.”

Her current projects include preparing for Architecture Bachelor and Masters Degree LAM Part 1 and 2 accreditation visit as well as Bachelor of Civil Engineering professional accreditation.

Asked about her future plans Wan Ling Chong said, “I am going to pursue my PhD and continue to improve the academic quality in the faculty.”

Wan Ling adviced students to never stop learning and always take challenges as a learning curve. “If you don’t fail, you will never learn. Always appreciate what is given to you, persevere and always do your best. Strive to be the best and you will be rewarded.”
