T-Systems Vice President of Human Resources, Mr. Vaclav Koranda visited Limkokwing University on 15 November 2017 to share insights into trends and opportunities in the human resources and IT industry to students from across faculties.

Mr. Vaclav Koranda was accompanied by T-Systems Human Resources Marketing Consultant (Asia), Recruiting and Employer Reputation and the Resources Manager, Alfred Ajit Kumar.

During the talk, he first gave an overview of the information and technology market drivers, citing that many companies are finding ways to save money more than ever before.

“There are a lot of drivers in the current markets that are actually not in favour of the economy right now, for example, the skyrocketing oil prices and also many factors in politics; companies react to these changes and now we are currently on the down face of the economic cycle.”

In lieu of the trends, Mr. Koranda mentioned that T-Systems is consistently finding ways to educate and prepare staff to be able to adapt to changes as well as finding ways to become cheaper, better, smarter and faste, to be able to cater to economic changes. “It is in this way that T-Systems will be relevant and stay ahead of competition.”

He mentioned that automation and hyperconvergence are two trends that are evidently emerging in the IT industry.

“Currently, if you look at the IT infrastructure there are different layers. It starts with the network, because you need connection, then you have to have the operating system (the platform), then storage to store your data (database) and the different applications. So I would say there are five to six different structures each which have a specialised field on their own, so companies have to hire specialists for each of the structures.”

Highlighting the challenges that come up with five or six teams managing a single customer, Mr. Koranda said that hyperconvergence solves most of the challenges.

“With hyperconvergence all these layers can be dealt with as one and one can actually offset the expert knowledge of all these different groups or structures of people by a very sophisticated software that turns the platform for you, and you need only one team to operate the end to end service for the customer from one team in very simple terms.”

At the end of the talk, students got the opportunity to submit their CVs to T-Systems staff. They also engaged in discussion on the opportunities available at T-Systems and its hiring process.
