The 1Malaysia Song Competition 2013 is a new attempt by Limkokwing University that was open to participation from everyone with exciting prizes on offer. Participants had to creatively produce their own renditions of the 1Malaysia song. The competition was conducted online for two months.

“I would like to congratulate all those who participated. I understand that there were 200 online entries from 25 different countries for this competition. The 1Malaysia Song competition will re-open in 2014 and the prizes are bigger and better. So, I would like to call upon all Limkokwing students worldwide to participate in this online competition,” said Dato’ Fajura.

Limkokwing University took a step higher to officially launch an online competition to promote the 1Malaysia song to initialize it among Malaysians and possibly among the youths of the world. The initiative is to have young people get into the spirit of 1Malaysia.

“When Limkokwing gave us the chance to sing the 1Malaysia song, I thought of trying it out to inspire people because I had figured out the meaning of the song which is one people, one nation and one heart,” said Sheree.

Sheree added, “My only challenge for this competition was the language. Whenever I get stuck with the song, I will just ask a random Malaysian to help me out. This competition has prepared me to be confident enough to believe that I can do anything. Thanks to Limkokwing Sound & Music Academy for unveiling this opportunity.”

The 1Malaysia song was composed and produced in 2009 by Limkokwing University. This song has won many accolades and is recognized in the Malaysian Book of Records in 2012 for the ‘First Malaysian Patriotic Song to Have Highest Hits on YouTube’.
