Shoppers were greeted with Christmas cheers during the Creativity in Motion fashion show held at the Kuala Lumpur Pavilion shopping mall on 11 December 2017.

Apart from live music performances, the visitors were also treated to a daring hair design and fashion show from the University’s Faculty of Fashion, Lifestyle and Creativity. The showcase featured 146 ensembles designed by 30 of the brightest talents from Limkokwing University.

The fashion showcase also aimed to give graduating students an industry exposure by enabling them to engage with live audience as part of their learning experience.

For students like Muhammed Naim bin Ruslan studying Diploma in Fashion & Retail Design, the showcase enabled him to gain valuable experience about real world challenges as a professional designer.

“This is my first time showcasing my design in Pavilion,” he said while adding that it gave him the chance to work as a professional.

He explained that the challenges he faced would enable him to establish himself in the fashion industry.

Students learn to perform and work under pressure while developing their professional skills. Furthermore, the showcase was an opportunity for them to display their most creative talents to the public.

“As a designer, the most exciting moment was being on the runway,” said Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fashion and Retailing student Yang Zhiyu from China while adding that the experience has strengthened her passion for the fashion industry.

“The University’s environment has inspired me in many ways,” she added.  “People here are both creative and multicultural, and helped me a lot.”

Professional Diploma in Hair Design student Tiara Fidelia Nicholson also gained an opportunity to showcase her talent during the event, as the emcee.

“It teaches you to step out of your comfort zone and stand out to be different to succeed,” she said. “It was an amazing experience.”

Limkokwing University provides students with an industry exposure by enabling them to participate in showcases and exhibitions. This exposure provides them with work experience and the necessary skills to succeed in global industries.
