Indonesia is also known as the world’s 4th most populous country and is also home to the world’s largest Muslim community.

The country consist of several islands that spans the Equator between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean with more than thirteen thousand islands. Indonesia is also known for its pristine seaside accommodations and volcanic destinations.

Indonesian have a shared culture that is defined by their national identity. This cultural identity has been shaped by interaction with various countries to create distinct sense of character.

Together with its cultural diversity, the country is rich in history. The Indonesian Archipelago has been an important trade region since the 7th century. Local rulers absorbed foreign political, cultural and religious thought from various sources.

Currently, Indonesia has about 300 ethnic groups with their own distinctive cultural identities that has grown over centuries with influences from Indian, Chinese and European traditions.

UNESCO has recognised the Indonesia for holding 6 items of Intangible Cultural Heritage with the Indonesian Batik known as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

The country is also known for its abundant natural resources and vast areas of wilderness that supports the world’s second highest biodiversity. Indonesia’s natural resources include oil and natural gas, tin, copper and gold. Its major agriculture produces tea, coffee, rice, spices and rubber. Major partners with Indonesia are Japan, the United States and the surrounding nations of Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.

The diverse wildlife in Indonesia included a sizable mixture of Asian and Australasian flora and fauna. Tropical forests cover roughly 60% of the country. The country’s numerous coastlines allows high level of biodiversity that includes various rare animal species such as the Komodo Dragon.

Tourism is Indonesia’s major attraction for visitor in Asia as well as Europe and America. The Island of Bali is the most famous due to its pristine beaches and high-exchange rate.
