New students learned crucial skills in presentation and communication during the Limkokwing University orientation programme which took place from 14 until 17 Aug 2017.

As part of the orientation programme, students learn to interact with other nationalities helping them foster tolerance and unity, and develop cultural awareness.

It also includes teambuilding and public speaking exercises to enable students to develop critical thinking skills and build their confidence.

“Most of the students are friendly and supportive,” said Malaysian student Siti Maisarah who will be pursuing her studies in fashion.

She explained that by learning to properly present themselves and effectively communicate their ideas, students like her are able to connect with others.

Siti also shared that Limkokwing University’s creative and innovative environment helped students like her to open their minds to explore other possibilities and expand their creativity.

For Malaysian student Nik Siti Noradrie, who is pursuing her Foundation in Design, these exercises encourage students like her to open up.

“We all have our different mindsets and different views,” she said. “It helps us to understand the minds of others and their culture.”

She also added that the University’s multicultural learning environment enables her to properly present herself while building her communication skills.

For Tajikistan student, Samad Mehron who is pursuing a course in Architectural Studies, the exercise helped foster unity.

“Multiculturalism is important as it enables you to gain a better understanding of different people from different countries,” he said.

Limkokwing University is a multicultural learning environment that emphasises the importance of understanding and unity. Students learn to develop vital soft skills that enable them to compete in a globalised environment.
