In conjunction with the Global Compact Network Malaysia (GCMY) Limkokwing University co-organised and hosted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) conference at its flagship campus in Cyberjaya on 4 July 2019.

Themed “People, Planet, Profit for the Next Generation “the conference consisted of a high level panel discussions and addresses surrounding Malaysia’s role in attaining SDG’s while highlighting practical insights on actions that businesses can take in shaping country’s direction towards achieving the Global Goals Agenda 2030.

Notable attendees at the conference were; YB. Dr. Lee Boon Chye, Deputy Minister, Minister of Health; YB. Fuziah Salleh, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Prime Minister Department; YB. Dr. Mohd Hatta Ramli, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Entrepreneur Development; YB. Khairy Jamaluddin, Member of Parliament for Rembau; Chris Daniel Wong, Vice President of Global Compact Network Malaysia and Dr. Kishore Ravuri, Vice President of Global Compact Network Malaysia to mention a few.

Topics of discussion included Shaping the future of Malaysia’s healthcare system: The role of technology and Malaysia’s next-generation in healthcare innovation; Women Empowerment & Religion: A reconciliation, Youths for Sustainable Development Goals; Employment and the future of work; Social Entrepreneurship in Malaysia: A paradigm shift in business; Gender equality in and achieving the SDGs; Climate Action in Achieving the SDGs and Disability Inclusive SDGs: Ensuring No One Is Really Left Behind.


Designing a More Progressive Malaysia

As inclusivity is one of the main pillars that power and drive the institution forward, for over thirty years Limkokwing University has advocated wider access to tertiary education by sponsoring individuals from all walks of life – students from underprivileged backgrounds, students from conflict zones, students with disabilities.

In Africa, Limkokwing was the first Malaysian university to operate in Africa over a decade ago, investing over 50 million dollars. Today, Limkokwing alumni have transformed creative industries in Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini and Sierra Leone. This year, it has expanded to Uganda, with new campuses slated for Namibia, South Africa and Rwanda in 2020.

The University is also working with UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education - on research as well as piloting advanced technologies to enhance teaching, learning and social inclusion.

At Limkowing, creativity and innovation is fuelled by 30,000 students from over 160 countries – different races, cultures, and religions – all of them studying together at our campuses across Asia, Africa and Europe.
