Limkokwing showcases cultural opulence at the London Fashion Week

Limkokwing University successfully closed London Fashion Week 2019 with a dazzling array of clothes featuring Malaysian traditional texture imbued with international flavors on 17 February 2019 at the Freemasons Hall, London.

Among those on the guest list were representatives from the UK brand Julien Macdonald, British Malaysian Association, MATRADE, fashion editors, media, embassies, alumni, family and friends and many recognised faces in the London fashion community.

The event was in partnership with Toni & Guy, Kryolan Make Up, along with Malaysian brands Wanderlust & Co. and Saadiah Aziz, who provided stunning Sabahan traditional accessories.

To prepare for the University’s fourth showcase at this year’s London Fashion Week, students and designers went to countries as far as Botswana, Lesotho, Indonesia, Iran, and of course, Malaysia, to find the right materials to inject into the collection.

The University’s involvement is a continuation of presenting Asian and African cultures to a western audience. Under the tutelage and direction of Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, the University has showcased world-class collections in Osaka, Chengdu, Cambodia, Botswana, Jakarta, Paris, London, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Malaysia for more than a decade.

The garments created by alumni and student designers of Limkokwing University have received high acclaimed from Vogue UK, Harper’s Bazaar, Singapore Fashion Week. Furthermore, clothes from “Date Night”, Limkokwing University’s 2018 London Fashion Week, were featured in the second season of American Beauty Star; a beauty competition featuring Beyonce’s makeup artist, Sir John, hosted by supermodel, Ashley Graham.
