Limkokwing University welcomed a representative from the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) Sri Lanka at the Limkokwing Cyberjaya campus on 15 December.
NIBM Director Dr D.M.A Kulasooriya came to Limkokwing University’s Malaysia headquarters to explore potential collaboration between like-minded educators to build a generation of graduates that are prepared to face the challenge of globalisation.
The National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) is a business school with more than four decades experience in business training and development. The institute offers a wide array of courses including undergraduate degree, higher diploma, diplomas and certificate courses that caters to specific needs of the industry.
The institute’s main campus is located in Colombo with regional centres in Kandy, Galle and Matara to enable students to access quality training.
“We want our students to be exposed to the best practises in the world,” said Dr D.M.A Kulasooriya. “Our intention is to produce global citizens and to ensure that students can work with international companies.”
“Limkokwing is one of the most modern educational facilities,” he added. He also intends to promote the University’s best industry practises to be emulated by students from Sri Lanka.
He explained that both parties are planning to develop Sri Lanka’s first innovation centre in partnership with Limkokwing and more details are currently being discussed.
Limkokwing University and NIBM are continuing to develop further plans for the collaboration with more information to be revealed in the near future.
“We began working with Limkokwing in 2009, we were amazed with the facilities at the University,” he said. “Now we are in the process of further expansion.”
Dr D.M.A Kulasooriya also added that Limkokwing is one of the best places where students can develop their skills in order to perform well in the global industries.
Limkokwing University actively collaborates with various organisations to foster greater industry exposure and cultural awareness among its graduates. Students gain a competitive advantage within a global environment.
