Vice- Chancellor Van Gore of Southampton Solent University, UK visits Limkokwing University to discuss future collaborations between the two institutions of higher learning.
Southampton Solent University, UK recently visited Limkokwing University to discuss future collaborations between the two institutions of higher learning. The group was led by Vice-Chancellor Van Gore and was accompanied by Professor Paul Heartly of Southampton Solent University as well as Maurice Dimmock Chairman of Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC).
Upon their arrival, the group was given a campus tour of various facilities that showcased Limkokwing University’s development and community involvement. They were brought to the Creative Library which houses the University’s achievements and its founder, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing’s contributions throughout the years. The group was later brought to the Branding Innovation Centre which contains a showcase of local products that have been re-branded with an aim to assist small to medium sized industries to bridge the design gap and move up the value chain.
Overseen by the board of governors and managed by Vice-Chancellor Van Gore, the University is divided into three academic faculties in a high-quality learning environment. Van Gore came on behalf of Solent University to discuss the possibilities of collaborating with Limkokwing Sarawak in the various fields of finance, business, computing and design.
Founded in the heart of Southampton, the university’s origin began from a private School of Art founded in 1856. In 1989, it was incorporated as an independent institution of higher learning and became a fully-fledged university in 2005. Mergers between Southampton College of Art, the College of Technology and the College of Nautical Studies in Warsash, paved the way to what it is now. The University is well known for the excellence and distinctiveness of its provision in maritime courses, sports and the creative industries.
ASIC is an independent body that provides an accreditation service for schools, colleges and Universities worldwide. Licensed by the UK Border Agency to accredit institutions that provide ESOL and Citizenship courses, being accredited by a UK body will raise the profile of the institution worldwide, as well as confirming that the institution delivers to the international standards in education.
