Limkokwing University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources at the TVET Malaysia campaign launch held at the ADTEC Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor on 28 September 2017.

TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Malaysia is a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of industrial training programmes. The campaign encourages Malaysian citizens to explore career opportunities under the TVET programmes.

Officiated by Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, TVET Malaysia will enable the country to better develop human resources and bridge the skills gap faced by local industries.

The launch is part of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) which includes eight ministries and agencies, namely the Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry, and the Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation (PERHEBAT) under the Ministry of Defence.

In attendance at the signing ceremony were representatives from Univeristi Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, PERHEBAT, Pasukan Gerak Udara Polis DiRaja Malaysia (Royal Malaysian Police Air Unit), Johor Skills Sdn. Bhd., Penang Skills Development Centre, Technology Depository Agency Berhad, and Yamatake Engineering Sdn. Bhd.

Limkokwing University is accredited as a Global Technical and Vocational Education and Training Model University by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC), United Kingdom.

The University was recognised in 2016 for its successful systematic delivery of industry-relevant programmes in its campuses in Asia, Africa and Europe, which prioritises digital skills, creativity and design to produce human capital imbued with the skill set needed by industry to tackle the challenges of an increasingly globalised technology-driven workplace.
