Commonwealth recognition for Limkokwing University and Centre for Content Creation

Limkokwing University and the Centre for Content Creation (CCC) were given special recognition by the Commonwealth of Nations on 5 November for the successful hosting of the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Summit at the Cyberjaya global campus.

CCC CEO, Dato’ Sri Timothy Lim Kok Wing Jr, also received special recognition from the Commonwealth of Nations for Leadership for Youth Empowerment.

Accepting the token of recognition on his behalf was CCC Business Development Senior Manager, Puteri Sherina Balqish Suffian, at an award ceremony held during the closing of the summit.

“On behalf Dato’ Sri Timothy and the University, I would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for this recognition,” said Sherina. “We hope that through this recognition, we can encourage other institutions to play a greater role in youth empowerment.”

She applauded the Commonwealth for providing an opportunity for the University to bring more awareness to key issues affecting the global community.

The summit saw young leaders, activists and aspiring entrepreneurs from 52 commonwealth nations gather in Cyberjaya to discuss the most critical issues facing the world community today, under the theme “An Intergenerational Convergence.”

Vice Chairperson for the Kenyan Commonwealth Youth Council, Faith Manthi said, “I must say that I am impressed with the University’s environment which has attracted powerful ideas from individuals.”

“If we can bring together all our innovative ideas together, we can build better systems and graduates who can contribute more back to society,” she added. 

Earlier during the summit, University Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing was bestowed with the prestigious Commonwealth Champions Award.
