Freshly minted Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Steven Sim, experienced first hand the successful industry collaboration between a private university and a healthcare giant when he launched the ‘Fresh Breath for Malaysia Youth Empowerment and Digital Communication’ between Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and Guardian Malaysia at the Limkokwing Hall of Fame on 19 September 2018.

YB Steven acknowledged that prior to his maiden visit to the flagship global campus in Cyberjaya he had heard a lot about Limkokwing’s global footprint but later admitted that his firsthand experience was beyond expectations.

“I don’t think a script can suffice the admiration I have towards this University,” he told the packed audience of students, lecturers and members of the media. “Limkokwing University, your name precedes you. This is my first time here and I’m overwhelmed. Students of Limkokwing University are not only trained to excel academically, but also trained to face the real world.”

More than 200 Limkokwing students and lecturers from the Faculty of Design Innovation (FDI), Faculty of Communication, Media and Broadcasting (FCMB) and Faculty of Multimedia Creativity (FMC) took part in the multimedia design competition to design and create posters and short videos for the Fresh Breath for Malaysia campaign, of which 20 best entries were shortlisted for the grand finale.

RM 14,000 in cash prizes is up for grabs with the winners to be selected by a panel of judges as well as online voting on the Guardian Malaysia and Limkokwing University Facebook pages.

Having a strong foundation in industry gives Limkokwing University the edge when it comes to working closely with the private sector.

This 40-year track record gives the University an enormous advantage in providing valuable experiences to students.

Indusity

Using the concept of Indusity – a word coined from joining the words industry and university – Limkokwing University has been able to achieve what others can only dream about.

Through many collaborations through the years, the University is able to work with industry in unparalleled ways in product or service innovation.

The ability to respond professionally has attracted industry to collaborate on special projects to obtain fresh new angles to marketing issues.

This unique collaboration with industry has also been extended to government with the intention to build national competitiveness and the country’s global reputation through innovative design and effective branding.

Also attending the Fresh Breath launch was the CEO of Guardian Health and Beauty, Mr Soren Lauridsen; Brand Manager of Health and Beauty Own Brand Malaysia and Brunei, Ms Michelle Yeap and Limkokwing University Senior Vice President, Dato’ Raja Aznil Raja Hisham.

“We chose to partner Limkokwing University because they are famous for their creative technology and multiculturalism,” said Mr Lauridsen.

Brand Manager and Limkokwing alumna, Ms. Michelle said Limkokwing was the perfect partner for the collaboration as the students here had the talent and skills to bring Fresh Breath for Malaysia to life by showcasing Guardian’s Fresh Mouth 6 Actions mouthwash range in the most creative way.

“Thank you for trusting Limkokwing students and I can assure you that the University and its students are uniquely suited to give a different perspective to the campaign,” said Dato’ Raja Aznil.
