Over 60 students were recognised and awarded for their outstanding participation in events, competitions, academia and sports at the Limkokwing University graduation on 22 July 2017.

The awards had six categories: Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence, Prime Minister’s Award for Creativity and Innovation, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing Award for Leadership, University Colours Award for Outstanding Achievement, University Colours Award for Ambassadorship, University Colours Award for Command Performance.

Bachelor of Business (Hons) in International Business graduate Dennise Vasquez from the United States of America expressed her joy on bagging two awards – University Colours Award for Ambassadorship and the Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing Award for Leadership.

She thanked Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing for providing a platform and opportunity for students to build and shape their careers.

“In this University, I have received the chance to feel as though I have travelled all around the world with individuals from more than 165 countries. I’ve been able to venture out to try new experiences that allowed me to grow as an individual. At first, I used to be an introverted person, but through the opportunities that were presented along the way, like hosting a Cultural Festival, creating radio announcements, and leading charity events, I have become an outspoken person.”

She acknowledged that the grooming she got at Limkokwing University has enabled her to stand tall and confident. “The University provides us all possibilities to design our future,” Dennise concluded.

Azril Zaim Aziz, a graduate of BA (Hons) in Digital Film and Television, declared that his time at Limkokwing University has contributed to his growth both inside and outside the classroom. He won the University Colours Award for Outstanding Achievement.

“It was under the guidance of supportive lecturers and friends that I became aware of issues, realities and perspectives that I hardly gave a thought to before.”

He mentioned that through classroom activities and the Global University Campus programme he got a chance to go to London and learn about concepts on a deeper level. “Studying here made me realise the importance of teamwork. Limkokwing is unique and full of creativity, by now all graduates have already developed a creative mindset and are ready to embark on a journey to make the impossible possible,” Aziz added.

Charlene Jemma Corbette from the Commonwealth of Dominica was awarded the Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Lim Kok Wing Award for Leadership.

“As one of only two Dominican students at Limkokwing, I knew that it was my duty to make my family and country proud. Limkokwing’s cultural diversity as well as its focus on innovation, has given me a once in a lifetime experience – a truly global experience that will without a doubt prove to be fundamental in this global marketplace,” said the Master of Business Administration in Communication and Public Relations graduate.
