EC-Council University and it’s Business Technology division, the Institute of iBusiness Council (IIB), held an industry talk on the latest IT industry trends and cybersecurity at Limkokwing University in Cyberjaya on 29 August 2018.

President of EC-Council University, Lata Bavisi, opened the session at the Hall of Fame by giving students an overview about an increasingly worrying issue faced by almost everyone today - cyber threats.

Lata said cybercrime is a persistent threat that existed due to many contributing factors such as increased mobility devices, increased connectivity and increased in the number of attackers and sophistication of attacks.

“We all know that technology is inevitable in this modern day era, so we must learn to embrace it by creating an edge in the cyber security industry,” she told the full house assembled at the Hall of Fame.

Lata shared an official report for students to see, which stated a staggering amount of cyber attacks annually worldwide - at 3 attacks every minute!

She also spoke about the ‘Art of Human Hacking’, which she feels is truly essential in order to understand and help institutions and organisations that’s been affected by wrong side of hacking.

“It is nice to actually see Limkokwing University practice technological space in all their works because it allows students to explore the many possibilities of the creative world that we are living in,” she added.


Digital Transformation

IIB Council Program Manager, Irene Dima, took the stage next, giving information and insights about Digital Transformation.

Irene said technology has driven the shift and companies that want to succeed must understand how to merge technology with strategy.

“It is important for IT and Business Professionals to work together when it comes to Digital Transformation,” said Irene.

She also shared factors that contributed to many digital companies doing well in the industry – namely they are adaptive, agile and innovative.


Business Technology

IIB Council Head of Sales, Dev Jeswant King, the final speaker, talked about Business Technology and important elements that would guarantee a successful career in Business Technology.

He also shared the important, in-demand opportunities in the current industry such as Blockchain Technology, Digital Marketing and Smart Project Management, all of which are certification courses that’s provided by IIB Council.

“Limkokwing University’s creative approach towards education is a good way of preparing students for their competitive career ahead,” said Dev.
