Students from across faculties were given valuable insight into human resources and market trends by T-Systems’ Vice President of Human Resources, Mr. Vaclav Koranda on 15 November 2017 in Cyberjaya.
Mr. Koranda is also a member of T-Systems’ Board of Directors. He holds a Masters Degree in Work and Organisational Psychology from Charles University and is a certified PRINCE2 practitioner.
Previously, he was the Vice President of Human Resources at T-Systems Czech Republic. While he was there, the company was placed in top ten for the ‘Employer of the Year Award’ a number of times.
Since 2002, he has held several managerial roles in Human Resources. His roles included regional responsibility, mainly for the Central/Eastern Europe.

During the talk, he spoke in detail about T-Systems’ data centres, data protection, staffing processes, market drivers and services it offers to clients worldwide.
“Six out of top ten companies in the world are IT companies, and according to a research by analysts, 51% of the jobs as we know them will be replaced by new technology and new ways of working by 2036. So what this means for us as companies are to be prepared for change and learn. We have to create an environment for our employees to learn constantly and be at the cutting edge of technology to help them develop their skills in areas that are currently growing in the market.”
In lieu of the market trends, Mr. Koranda stressed the importance of collaborations between academic and various organisations, especially to students as it gives them a glimpse of what the corporate world requires.
“It’s important for industry professionals to come and give talks to students, because there is a big gap between the academic world and the professional world. The collaboration between companies and universities will try to narrow the gap and bring students closer to the real world, to the requirements of the corporate world.”
Giving advice to students on how to successfully move up the corporate ladder, he said, “Start step by step, try to learn all different aspects of the job and be open. Always be prepared, because sometimes things in life are met by chance, but only if you are prepared you can grasp the chance and that can help you progress.”
