Limkokwing University hosted an art and music exhibition celebrating the culture of ten Middle Eastern countries late last month at the Hall of Fame.
The event attracted about 300 attendees who got to learn about the diverse cultures and traditions of various Arab countries through an exciting mesh of performances, music, art and food.
While highlighting the identity of each nation, Arabian Nights showcased the shared culture between Egypt, India, Malaysia, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen.
Shining example of Multicultural Unity
Eike Struss from Germany said ‘Arabian Night’ was memorable and spread positive messages through interactive performances.
“It was a stunning concert. It was my first-time experiencing Arabian Nights and I’m so interested to learn other cultures through the use of music, and the food outside was amazing,” she added.
For Vietnamese student, Vu Thi Hong Trang, the performances were lively and spirited. “During the performance, they urged the audience to join them in singing. Even if I didn’t understand what they are saying, I understood various aspects of their culture, and this was a great way to get closer to other cultures.”
According to Rehab Othman and Ahlam Osman from Palestine, both agree that Arabian Nights brought together humanity through art and music.
“Limkokwing University Arabian Nights promoted unity and peace between Arab nations by singing songs in various languages and dialects.”
Noubel Dehdashti from Iraq said he attended the event with his daughter who is studying Creative Multimedia in Limkokwing University.
“Today’s event successfully met a great target through blending Arabic and English music. The concert is about showing our culture to others and I like the idea of how the show to fuses our cultures together with different genres and transcend borders and cultures in our globalised world,” he concluded.
