The Federative Republic of Brazil is the largest country in South America and the largest national economy in Latin America.

The country’s economy is the world’s ninth largest by nominal GDP and is a member of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) group of high resource nations with tremendous growth opportunity.

Brazil possesses a mixed economy with abundant natural resources and cultural richness. The service sector is the largest component in the Brazilian economy emphasising tourism.

Tourism is a key sector in the country’s economic growth with emphasis on ecotourism. Natural areas are popular destinations for international visitors which combines leisure and recreation, adventure travel as well as cultural tourism.

The people of Brazil are known for their optimism and their love for football. For Brazilians, cultural diversity is an important aspect of their lives which has been shaped by years of assimilation, tolerance and respect for different beliefs.

Brazilians as a people emphasise the importance of family values and friendship. Businesses within the country reflect this aspect as businessmen take the time to know one another before committing themselves into a professional relationship.

The country’s tourism competitiveness was ranked 1st for its natural resources, 7th for tourist destination in the Americas and 51st against other countries in 2015 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI). It is ranked 23rd against other countries for its cultural resources due to its many World Heritage Sites, numerous protected land areas and the richest fauna in the world.

Home to a massive part of the Amazon Rainforest, Brazil’s unique environmental heritage makes it one of the 17 mega-diverse countries which includes vast tropical forest, home of various wildlife, diverse ecological systems and an extensive natural resources.

The Amazon Rainforest within the country is estimated to contain approximately four million different species of plants and animals. These include multi-coloured parrots, red-bellied piranhas, toucans and countless types of flowers.
