Learning SAP HANA with T-Systems

Head of Applications SAP Technology Mr. Zaki Shuhaimi from T-Systems Malaysia gave students from Limkokwing University a talk on Systems Applications and Products (SAP) technologies on 9 June 2017.

Mr. Zaki Shuhaimi has 19 years of experience in IT including 16 years of work with SAP technology. He is a pioneer in setting up the SAP Global Operations in Malaysia and accountable to ensure growth in the Asia Pacific region in new SAP Technologies.

Additionally, he is experienced in various IT fields such as programming, server/OS, data centre management, project management and applications.

During the talk, he elaborated on Systems Applications and Product: High-Performance Analytic Appliance (SAP HANA). SAP HANA is an in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system which functions as a database server to store and retrieve data as requested by the applications.

“SAP HANA has multiple engines which can support any software. Traditionally, SAP used the ER3 and BW software. Whatever you work on will be generated from the BW Software which abstract the data and translate to the report on the disk.”

“With the newer technology SAP HANA data is processed much faster. The engine inside the SAP HANA uses an advanced technology to translate data and abstract it effectively.”

Mr. Shuhaimi mentioned that SAP HANA is used across all industries to improve organisations’ procedures and performance.

He also gave students insights on what to expect when they join the IT industry.

“When you join the IT industry as a fresh graduate, you have to accept the fact that you will learn new things from scratch. You may have learned some concepts from the University, but there will be newer concepts you’ll have to learn and this is a constant process,” Mr. Shuhaimi concluded.
