Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing officially appointed TVET Malaysia advisor

The Human Resources Ministry has officially appointed Tan Sri Dato' Sri Paduka Dr Lim Kok Wing as TVET Malaysia advisor.

Human Resources Minister, Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, said the appointment of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing was in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) in Malaysia.

The appointment was announced in Cyberjaya on 16 January 2018 following the first TVET Malaysia ministerial coordination meeting.

In his role as TVET Malaysia advisor, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing will impart his extensive experience in nation-building, social development as well as educational contribution, to Malaysia’s future generation of workers.

“Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing has contributed significantly in the development of TVET,” said Datuk Seri Richard Riot. “With the introduction of TVET Malaysia, the contribution of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is even bigger especially on the branding of TVET Malaysia.”

As part of this new role, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing will be tasked with sharing his insight and providing consultation to the newly established TVET Malaysia Council, which will be chaired by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak.

TVET Malaysia was launched in September 2017 after the rebranding of TVET programmes and institutions previously conducted by seven ministries.

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is recognized as a Global Technical and Vocational Education and Training Model University by the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC), United Kingdom.

This official recognition in 2016 was in light of the University’s successful and systematic delivery of industry-relevant programmes at its campuses in Asia, Africa and Europe, which prioritises digital skills, creativity and design, producing human capital imbued with the skill set needed by industry to tackle the challenges of an increasingly globalised technology-driven workplace.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing is also the first International President of TVET UK, which is a membership organisation representing an extensive network of awarding bodies, professional institutes, UK colleges, training providers, policy-making organisations and educational equipment suppliers – each guaranteed to comply with rigorous UK quality standards.
