More than 600 students attended the Trends & Opportunities in vCloud, App Agile and Open Telekom Cloud industry talk by T-Systems on 14 September 2017 at Limkokwing University in Cyberjaya.

T-Systems is one of the world’s leading providers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The company has over 1,000 staff in Cyberjaya, Malaysia which serves as the operational hub for T-Systems in the Asia Pacific Region.

The company provides services that include secure operating systems and classic ICT services, transforming business models to cloud-based services and innovation projects such as data analytics, the Internet of Things, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication and Industrial Internet.

Students from the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology as well as Faculty of Business Management & Globalization gained better insights into the global ICT industry during the talks given by three T-Systems industry professionals.

Presenting were Head of Technical Expert Centre, Vijay Chouhan, ITO Product Manager, Hung Yee Chan, and Vice President GCU Americas & APAC IT Division, Global IT Operations (ITO), Andreas Truls.

Palestinian student Ahmed Mohamed Arafat who is studying PhD in Management found the talk beneficial as it enabled students to learn how the market works.

“It helps us to know what to study and focus to prepare us for our career,” he said. “This helps us to know what kind of work will be involved in our career.”

During the seminar, students learned about various topics including cloud systems and its services, diving into the subjects deeper than they do during classes.

“We tried to provide students with a bit of insights on what we are doing,” said Andreas after concluding the talk.

He explained that there are several “Next Big Things” in the ICT industry which students need to be prepared for.

“We used to talk about connected cars, but now we are talking about connected devices,” he explained. “Public cloud is a sure trend that could see a lot of application with industry specific cloud in the future.”
