The principal of Gloucestershire College (GC) Mr. Matthew Burgess visited Limkokwing University’s flagship campus in Cyberjaya recently. He was accompanied by the GC’s Chief Financial Officer Andy Bates.
They both received a lively red carpet welcoming complete with drums and music and were greeted by University’s Senior Vice President Dato’ Raja Aznil Raja Hisham and senior management.
GC is an innovative and career-focused London-based college with three campuses in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cinderford (Forest of Dean campus). It offers a range of education and vocational skills including professional and technical training, apprenticeships, basic skills courses, part-time courses and English for international students.
During the meeting between Limkokwing University’s Founding President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr. Limkokwing’s office, and the GC representatives, both parties discussed international cooperation and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
“We can lend support if you are looking forward to a gateway to Asia, Africa and Europe as equal partners. I’m keen to do something more outside of the box, and our University’s ideas are way ahead of others and focused on youngsters,” said Tan Sri Limkokwing.
“Cultural experience here is something more than we can imagine. Student share their experiences with each other. They are they are the best teachers and ambassadors; and when they finish, they are the best graduates,” he said.
According to Mr. Matthew, GC is looking forward to capturing the international market and Limkokwing University is the best place to start with.
“What caught our attention was the way Limkokwing University presented itself and programmes. We can explore different dimensions with international vocational programmes,” he said.
Giving his insight at the meeting, Andy said his third visit to Malaysia made him aware of the changes taking place in the country.
He said that Malaysia was changing and moving towards a developed country.
“It an honour to come here again and at the moment we need to find something unique. Our summer school is quite popular and some students stay for one or two years. If they can experience something new and get back to the UK, it will be fantastic,” he concluded.
