Final year students showcased their designs at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur Shopping Mall on 30 November.
This year’s theme ‘Sensory Utopia’ focused on texture whereby students could explore, play and feel form as well as texture. The exhibition prepares graduating students for the industry by helping them to sharpen their design skills while learning to manage their personal branding labels.
More than 25 designs were showcased in the Centre Court of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur by thirteen graduating students from the University’s Faculty of Fashion Lifestyle and Creativity. The exhibition also featured performances by the University’s Performing Arts and Sound and Music students as well as 40 student models from more than 15 countries.
The event also provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience with backstage management and developing their own networking platform with other industry professionals.
“I am happy and proud to be able to showcase my collection here,” said Katherine Yap Yan who was completing her Degree in Fashion Design.
“This experience prepares me for the industry, because it helps me to get the real feel of the industry,” she said.
Limkokwing University recently collaborated with Pavilion Shopping Centre to help foster the Christmas festive spirit while helping graduating students to kick-start their careers in the fashion industry.
“Hands-on events like these prepares the students,” added Sudanese student Malaz Elnaiem who is studying MA in Digital Film & TV. “Limkokwing University’s multicultural environment opens up students minds and enables them to be more exposed without having to leave the country.”
“The environment prepares students to work anywhere in the world,” she added.
Limkokwing University fosters industry exposed learning approach to ensure students receive experiences that encourage competitiveness. This enables students to prepare themselves to work in a globalised multicultural environment.
