Students win prizes for Lafarge’s Happiness in the City truck design contest

Students from the Faculty of Design and Innovation secured third prize at Lafarge’s Happiness in the City truck design competition on 20 August 2017.

The competition was held in conjunction with the Happiness City campaign where EdgeProperty.com conducted a survey to engage urban residents by gathering their views on the ideal future city and how to improve city living in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Bahru.

Students from 16 universities submitted a total of 42 designs which were judged for their creativity, relevance to the “Happiness in the City” theme and the best use of colour.

Ellysha Syazana studying Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Professional Design (Visual Communication) said being one of the top three of the Lafarge competition was exhilarating because it was her first time winning since joining Limkokwing University.

“I appreciate the way we are taught here in Limkokwing because as a student you get challenged to think outside of the box. I’m from a science background, so for me to be able to participate in design competitions goes on to show how successfully this University moulded me to come out of my shell,” Ellysha concluded.

For Muhammad Firdhaus, also studying Professional Design, being on the top three of this competition is a testament to how the University hones its students to be hands-on. “I’m really happy and hopeful to join many more competitions during the course of my studies here.”

Limkokwing University’s creative approach to education exposes students to industry practices through workshops, competitions, events and industry talks.
