On 5 June 2018, Limkokwing University welcomed delegations from the French Embassy and the Malaysia-France University Centre for talks on collaboration in areas of French language learning and education.
Mr. Nicolas Gouletquer, who led Embassy delegation, and Ms. Camille Retzignac of the Malaysia-France University Centre, said they were impressed after being taken for a full campus tour which showcased the University’s history and achievements.
Opening the discussions, Mr. Gouletquer spoke about the benenfits of introducing the French language and culture on campus.
“It would be good for a multicultural environment like Limkokwing University to be immersed with French language and culture, and it will also be a great way to kickstart our partnership by bringing in French teachers to come here and teach the students,” he said.
Mr. Gouletquer also showed interests in areas of implementing curricular activities related to the French culture and students exchange programs.
Limkokwing senior management was represented by Vice-Presidents, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim and Dato’ Fajura Juffa Mohd Mustafa Kamal.
Dato’ Tiffanee said the University welcomed the opportunity to explore the collaboration further, and thanked French delegations for proposing the idea.
“We would like to work with French designers and creative people to see how we can merge creativity and innovation from both an academic and industry perspective.”
Due to the lack of French culture involvement on campus, she also said it was important to build a strong base with more events related to the lifestyle, culture and history of France.
“Organizing a French festival would be a good way of opening paths towards a bigger, better and effective partnerships in the future,” she said.
