Limkokwing University students in the Global Campus program got a chance to watch international award winning Opera singer Marika Rauscher perform live during a personalised motivational session they attended.

Rauscher has performed at some of the most famous venues around London, including The Royal Opera House, The Royal Albert Hall, The Emirates Stadium, The Austrian Embassy, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Barbican Centre, Birmingham Symphony Hall, and many more.  She was also featured in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, and recorded for the National Opera in 2013.

Rauscher opened the session with a singing performance, mesmerising her audience with her strong beautiful voice. She went on to share her journey with the students.

The Austria born singer moved to London with her parents as a child, because they wanted to offer more opportunities to her. It was in London that she realised her passion for singing, and did everything she could to pursue her dreams.

She spoke about the various jobs she had taken while chasing her dreams, and how her big break came through one of those jobs. She was working at a theatre bar when she overheard her bosses talking about needing a performer to do a few minutes on stage. She grabbed the opportunity, which opened more doors to her.

Rauscher encouraged the students to accept constructive criticism positively and develop themselves from it.

“Learn that it’s not personal, ask for feedback and learn from it,” she said.

The students were impressed with Rauscher’s performance and speech, and they said she had motivated them even in fields different from singing.

“I was truly motivated by her speech. I have learnt so much from it; to be confident, energetic, speak clearly, and to be kind,” said Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Games Art Development student, Bong Yi.

The motivational talk came at an important time for the students as they prepare for their final presentation at the London campus.
