Last year, the Limkokwing International Cultural Festival was recognised by The Malaysia Book of Records for having the most number of country representatives participating in a cultural festival with 93 delegates attending.

For this year’s “The World in One Place” cultural fiesta delegates from over 100 countries including Embassy of Ecuador’s Ambassador, Her Excellency Laura Donoso; Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany’s Legal Advisor, Dr. Karl Felix Oppermann; Embassy of Spain’s Deputy Head of Mission, Meritxell Parayre-Sabes; Embassy of Ghana’s Head of Chancery, Stanley Samuel Famiah and Embassy of Croatia’s Deputy Head of Mission, Tamara Crnjac to mention a few.

Her Royal Highness Sultanah of Pahang and Chancellor of Limkokwing University, Sultanah Dr Hajjah Kalsom was the Royal Guest of Honour. Princess of Swaziland Her Royal Highness Sikhanyiso Dlamini and the Deputy Minister of Tourism YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati binti Samsudin and former Miss Universe Malaysia 2010, Nadine Thomas were also in attendance.

Hailing from Indonesia were Raline Shah, an actress as well as the official ambassador of the Limkokwing International Cultural Festival 2017; and Millane Fernandez, singer, actress and judge for the Rising Star Indonesia competition.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Star Media Group, Mr. Wong Chun Wai said that it is always a joy to come to Limkokwing University because of its vibrant energy and diverse environment.

“Limkokwing University is unlike any other universities mainly because of its multiculturalism. It’s like the whole of United Nations in Malaysia; additionally this festival is truly amazing because when you walk into campus you can see that this was done by students, it’s the product of their blood sweat and tears.”

“It’s not something put up by the tourism board but by the students themselves, and for me that’s the real inner feeling of showcasing your country in a much younger and creative way, not in a commercialised way which is just amazing,” Mr. Wong concluded.

Spain’s Deputy Head of Mission, Meritxell Parayre-Sabes concurred that it’s always a great surprise to come to Limkokwing, and that she was pleased to see people from various cultures come together.

“Culture plays a big part in education. It’s important to know and understand the diversity of the world we live in. Limkokwing students are lucky to have this kind of environment because I didn’t have this back home in Barcelona, if I were to study again, I would choose a university like Limkokwing,” she said.

Ghana Embassy’s Head of Chancery Mr. Stanley Samuel Famiah declared that Limkokwing University’s International Cultural Festival is a great achievement, because it brought the whole world in one place.

“I’m impressed by the number of countries represented here. To the best of my knowledge, I could count about three quarters of the world here. The cultural set up is very educative to me, I got the opportunity to learn about countries that I have not been to. Seeing Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and far off countries that I have not been to was exciting.”
