TVET UK appoints Founder and President of Limkokwing University as its first International President
Tan Sri Dato Sri Paduka Dr. Lim Kok Wing, Founder and President of Limkokwing University, has been appointed as the first TVET UK International President.
TVET UK is a membership organisation representing an extensive network of awarding bodies, professional institutes, UK colleges, training providers, policy-making organisations and educational equipment suppliers – each guaranteed to comply with rigorous UK quality standards.
Established in 2007, TVET UK enables international customers to access the best of UK vocational education and training providers and suppliers easily and effectively through a single point of contact. These international clients include ministries, public and private sector providers and employers.
Tan Sri Lim’s appointment as TVET UK International President came together with several nominations from eminent academics and with the unanimous agreement of the TVET UK Council and Executive Board. Consideration was given to Tan Sri Lim’s immense international reputation in the field of TVET Education and his work on the development of skills in line with local and international strategies.
In addition, the TVET UK Council and Executive Board considered Tan Sri Lim’s transformational leadership, as evident by the recognition of Limkokwing University as the Global TVET Model University, and Tan Sri Lim’s outstanding altruistic efforts to alleviate poverty in Africa through skill enhancement programmes offered by Limkokwing University campuses in Swaziland, Botswana and Lesotho.
Tan Sri Lim’s international TVET presidency will initially last for a period of two years. With this appointment, Limkokwing University and TVET UK will be working together to develop and deliver TVET solutions in the ASEAN region and beyond. This will further Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing’s vision, passion and drive to enhance the lives of young people through quality assured technical and vocational education and training skills development.
