Winners of the Limkokwing Futsal Challenge 2015 received their trophies from Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, the University’s Vice President of Brand, Creativity and Talent Development on 2 Sept.
The Futsal Challenge was held recently at the Cyberjaya Lake Side Futsal Court on 29 Aug consisting of 18 teams with seven participants from each team. These teams comprised of multinational players from the University that included students as well as staff.
“I think it is important to be excellent both in and out of the classroom,” said Dato’ Tiffanee. ”These guys are proof of that.”
The Futsal Challenge encouraged the students to learn team coordination while competing with each other. These players learn to strategise, communicate and integrity in sports. Through practice with teammates, they would learn the importance of communication and teamwork.
“Teamwork and communication is the chemistry to success between each players,” said Nadir Mohamed Saifeldin who is studying Islamic Banking & Finance under the Faculty of Business Management & Globalisation. “Even if you have the best players, without proper communication and teamwork, you cannot win.”
The Limkokwing Futsal Challenge 2015 was organised by the University’s Student Services Affairs that was aimed to encourage competitive spirit, connection as well as appreciation for different culture. The competition also aims to encourage students to participate in activities that emphasise on friendship and international networking upon graduation.
“Playing as a team with one heart is a key to success,” he added. “Each players would have to work together to improve themselves.”
“The game is about the group and not about an individual,” added Adnan Ghaleb Mohammed aldhaifi, who is studying Bachelor of Software Engineering with Multimedia under the Faculty of Information & Communication Technology. “When choosing a team, you should not look for a skilled player, everyone has to play as a team”
“One of the most important aspect about organising a team is being able to develop friendship,” said Bachelor of Business Administration student Tayeb Khelfati under the Faculty of Business Management & Globalisation.
“It is not about playing Futsal, we are friends outside the court and this is the real benefit by working as a team.”
“This is what you will need when studying abroad,” said Tayeb while adding that it helps to create a lifelong network between former teammates.
The Futsal Challenge is part of the Student Services Division’s initiative to expand the University’s student activities to promote a healthy lifestyle, mental development and perseverance. Students are also encouraged to organise their own teams while facilitating a sponsor.
