On 8 March 2018, Limkokwing University hosted the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) and jointly organized the national-level celebration of International Women’s Day at the Cyberjaya campus.

The delegation was led by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim.

This year’s celebration was themed #PressforProgress, shining a spotlight on gender parity, with an emphasis on gender inclusivity and new gender parity initiatives.

The event was accompanied by a string of entertaining performances with various booths set up at the Plaza.

Neematu Ziblim from the Ghana High Commission said she was thrilled with the vibrant environment and was happy to see a lot of young women studying at the campus.

Meanwhile, Zetty Anis Kang, the Programme Coordinator for Women Girls Self Development Association, said it is always unique to attend a Limkokwing University event, which boasts the most global student body in the world.

Recognising Limkokwing University’s continuous support of women empowerment initiatives, Dato’ Sri Rohani presented the Strategic Partner in Training Women in Digital Technology and Entrepreneurship Award, and the Leadership in Capacity Building Towards Women Empowerment Award, to Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim, who received the recognitions on behalf of Founder and President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing.

In the past, Limkokwing has hosted and supported many similar initiatives, including the Women as Creative Entrepreneurs Empowerment Programme, organised by the Ministry and the NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW).

A special charity screening of the film “TAKDIR” was also held at Limkokwing University Hall of Fame later in the evening, with the star-studded cast in attendance, including lead actor Riezman Khuzaimi and Elizad Sharifuddin.
