Limkokwing University welcomed the delegates from the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives in Malaysia for Iftar on 16 June 2017 to break fast with Maldivian students.

The University also invited Maldivian students from other universities for the opportunity to meet the deputy ambassador on campus.

“In a time of globalisation, it is important to interact with people of different ideologies and background,” said Maldives Deputy Ambassador Ghaniya Abdul Ghafoor. “Limkokwing facilitates that in a very healthy way.”

She also mentioned that students from Limkokwing University have been very active and have worked with the Embassy of Maldives on various activities. These students have performed in several events that have been organised by the embassy.

“We are glad that the University is very supportive in providing the students with the opportunity while giving the push to work professionally.”

Hussain Fazaal, who is studying BSc (Hons) in Software Engineering with Multimedia, explained that the event enabled students to improve their networking skills.

“I think this Iftar is a very important thing to do as we Maldivians have to live in a foreign country,” he said. “We are mostly very busy with our college work, and this event allows us to see each other.”

Maldivian BA (Hons) in Professional Communication student Falhmath Saha Mohamed said that the event brought back the Maldivian feel and provided students with a good environment to bond with each other.

“We don’t normally see each other as we are busy studying in different colleges,” she said. “These kind of events help to bring us together in one place.”

Limkokwing University is a multicultural learning environment with a global network of companies and professionals from various industries. Students develop cultural awareness and learn from industry experts, which enables them to succeed in the international markets.
