ASTRO welcomes Limkokwing’s fresh graduates for job opportunities

Astro Malaysia has held the 17th position in the Malaysia's 100 Leading Graduate Employer of Choice for three successive years. Astro Malaysia is known as the leading media entertainment organization in Malaysia and Southeast Asia with operations in pay-TV, radio, publications as well as digital media. Astro holds about 170 TV channels, including 37 HD channels, distributed via the Direct-To-Home satellite TV and 20 radio channels.

Prashant Pathmanaban, Vice President of Astro Digital and Mazliana Mohan, Senior Associate Youth Outreach Human Capital visited Limkokwing University recently for an industry talk on future careers at Astro Malaysia.

The talked was aimed at the University’s final year students from various faculties including the Faculty of Communication, Media & Broadcasting, Faculty of Multimedia Creativity and Faculty of Design Innovation.

The internship programme offered by Astro is a structured programme that provides experience and knowledge related to the student’s field of study, which will increase their employability upon completion of their studies. Both Malaysian and international undergraduate students who are currently pursuing their degree or diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and above, or equivalent are eligible to apply.

Apart from that, Astro has also started a structured management trainee programme called the Astro Management Associate Programme (MAP).

Most of Astro’s employees are from the generation Y who are now contributing to a talented workforce. The Management Associates will be a part of the main leadership team in the future. The 2-year programme has been developed with accomplished job rotation that provides Astro’s management associates with a full scope of the business. Astro conducts Malaysia’s first management trainee programme that join forces with ‘Teach for Malaysia’ as part of the job rotation.

There are few Malaysian TV series that got aired in Astro which was filmed at Limkokwing University, and one of them is ‘Lari, Sayang, Lari’ which means ‘Run, My Love, Run.’ This 75 minutes long tele-movie was partly shot at Limkokwing University and was broadcasted in January 2012 on Astro Ria. The drama was produced by 42nd Pictures for Astro.

Among Malaysia’s most recognizable female television personalities includes actress Sazzy Falak and Maya Karin, who are Limkokwing graduates as well. Both celebrities who are well known for their versatility had their shows appeared on channel Astro Ria.
