Limkokwing University recently hosted Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chairperson, YBhg Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz and his entourage, who met with the University’s Founder and President, Tan Sri Limkokwing, to discuss a possible collaboration between the two organisations.

MIDA, the Malaysian government’s main investment promotions organisation, provides information on the opportunities for investments, as well as facilitating companies which are looking for joint venture partners. They work with many African investment agencies in assisting them to improve their services.

It has previously brought investment agency delegates from South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria, to Limkokwing University for a presentation of the University’s success story and its development strategies.

During the meeting, the two organisations’ leaders discussed ways on using education as a driver for investment in Malaysia. They also discussed ways of incorporating branding into investment. Limkokwing University, a leading new age educational institution and an international brand, renowned for its practical approach to education, was selected by MIDA as a possible partner because of its immaculate branding tactics, having established itself well in three continents.

YBhg Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz and the MIDA delegates were impressed by the University’s interest in rebranding local products. They visited the University’s branding archive, the branding gallery. The branding gallery features a wide range of rebranded local products including developed brands, packaging designs and logos, all developed by students.

This is directed towards assisting small and medium sized enterprises to increase their market value and give local products a competitive edge in the marketplace.

YBhg Tan Sri Amirsham A. Aziz commended Limkokwing University on its efforts to develop local businesses, and proposed the possibility of the University working together with MIDA in rebranding home-grown products, and encouraging local assemblies to invest in Malaysia.

He applauded the University’s approach to education, calling the University a ‘leading model of what current universities are trying to do.’ He also found the University‘s diverse and vibrant environment remarkable, and applauded the University’s ability to attract students from across the world. Limkokwing University has students from over 160 countries in its Cyberjaya campus, and has campuses across Asia, Africa, and Europe, with more campuses continually emerging.
