Networking Opportunity for SMK Cochrane Students

29 April 2017

Forty students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Cochrane gained the opportunity to learn the importance of tolerance and creativity during a school visit at Limkokwing University on 27 April.

Limkokwing University’s school visit programme enables students to experience a multicultural and industry-based learning approach to prepare future graduates for their professional careers. The experience also enables students to learn the importance of creativity and innovation within a globalised environment.

For SMK Cochrane student Rene Kaur Pasricha, the experience encouraged school students to identify other cultures and make friends.

“I think Limkokwing is a very good institute and it helps people to recognise the different cultures as its students from 150 countries are all studying at the same place,” she said.

“Racism is a big issue in the workplace, so multiculturalism would teach people to be kind and more open to everyone,” she added. “You see that you should not judge a book by its cover.”

She also mentioned that multicultural exposure helps students to learn the values of teamwork and interaction skills.

“We get to develop new ideas and communication skills for our future careers,” she said. “Brainstorming sessions and creating unique designs became much more interesting.”

The experience has also impressed Hashweiin a/l Rajasegaran while nurturing his interest into the creative industry.

The University’s audio equipment and studio facilities sparked his interest in studying Sound Engineering.

“I think Limkokwing University is a very interesting place to study,” he said. “The facilities are big and it is well equipped for students to pursue their studies. It teaches us to work as a team and we can make new friends.”
