Sri Ram Ganesan: Today’s gamechanger, tomorrow’s thought leader

26 April 2022

As a growing field propelled by the advancement of new technologies and online media, there’s a growing potential for digital media majors. That was certainly the case for Sri Ram Ganesan. Since the Bachelor of Communications in Digital Media alumnus graduated, he’s landed a role as a Senior Communications Executive in Siemens Malaysia.

“My job role is graphic designing for the ASEAN region, maintaining internal and external online platforms such as Intranet and country internet site, event management, and employee engagement activities.”

Siemens Malaysia is a leading technology company with comprehensive products and solutions for various markets in the Malaysian economy under its Digital Industries and Smart Infrastructure businesses. The company focuses on the areas of intelligent infrastructure for buildings, grids, and distributed energy systems, more resource-efficient factories, resilient supply chains, as well as automation and digitalization in the process and manufacturing industries.

“As a graphic designer in the communication department, I create assets such as posters, infographics, online banners, and videos to promote our product and services to potential and existing customers.”

Sri Ram discovered his passion for his job during his 3-month internship at Siemens, where he was given the opportunity to design assets for the online platform and publications. “Upon completing my degree, I applied for work in Siemens Malaysia and I was offered a Communications Executive role.”

The Bachelor of Communications in Digital Media programme encompasses modules related to advertising, photography, graphic designing, and online tools. “I learned a lot about advertising, photo and videography, and software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects. The knowledge I learned helped me do my daily job in graphic designing and handling digital platforms.”

Sri Ram is currently working on a CSR project with his team. “We are donating a used laptop to an NGO called MACO (Medical Awareness Camp Outreach) where they will repair the used laptop and give it to needy students. - Through this initiative, we can reduce e-waste and help needy children.”

When we asked him what his favourite project was he said, “The Siemens Golf Tournament 2018.” He started with zero knowledge of golf sports and how to conduct a corporate-level tournament and ended up learning about Golf sports and how to organise a corporate-level tournament.
