In an era where media and technology reshape our everyday lives, searching for new avenues of creativity and innovation is more crucial than ever. Answering this call is Sun Siyam Media Group, a leader in independent media in Maldives, which has recently signed a commitment of interest agreement with Limkokwing University. This strategic alliance holds promise for Sun Siyam Media and Limkokwing University, the Maldivian media landscape, and the broader creative industry.

Ibrahim Khaleel, the CEO of Sun Siyam Media, discussed the company’s vision for the partnership during his visit to Limkokwing University. The collaboration, he said, seeks to “create more opportunities for our young staff and other young stars who want to become leaders in the creative industry.”

Khaleel recognises the potential of the young talent in the company, with an average staff age of 22 years. He emphasised the value of their fresh ideas and believed that their innovative thinking, combined with the experience of industry veterans, could lead to exciting new ventures.

Underscoring the value of education in the media sector, Khaleel envisions the partnership with Limkokwing University as a powerful means to train new brains for the future. He mentioned the importance of catering to the current ICT age and dealing with artificial intelligence - areas where Limkokwing University excels.

The CEO also touched on the potential for short online training programs created in response to the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. These programs cater to professionals who may not have the time to commit to longer-term courses.

This partnership between Sun Siyam Media and Limkokwing University could change the media landscape in Maldives. Khaleel envisages significant changes if Limkokwing University were to establish a campus in the country, opening new avenues and opportunities for Maldivian students and the youth.

Sun Siyam Media’s COO, Mohamed Asif, underscored that the agreement aligns well with the company’s operational objectives, echoing Khaleel’s vision of creating opportunities for Maldivian youth. He sees potential in utilising the creative prowess of recent graduates in tourism and media.

Asif noted that operational challenges are minimal, given the many students graduating each year seeking creative arts and tourism opportunities. He also highlighted the opportunity for Limkokwing to establish itself uniquely in the Maldives, especially given its reputation as a leading tourist destination.

The COO indicated that the following steps include conducting workshops within Sun Siyam Media and generating interest in the partnership among the company’s network in Maldives. Asif and Khaleel’s industry experience spanning three decades would play a vital role in this process.

Asif outlined plans for managing the practical aspects of the partnership, such as potential internships and practical sessions. He sees opportunities for students to engage in learning experiences in Maldives and Malaysia.

In the burgeoning creative content industry, Asif, a Creative Content Director himself, believes that exchanging ideas between the two parties could lead to more innovative content.

In conclusion, this commitment of interest between Sun Siyam Media and Limkokwing University paves the way for a new era of innovation in media and creativity in Maldives. This exciting partnership promises a future where the media landscape and creative industries will thrive, driven by young talents and nurtured by experienced leaders.
