Limkokwing University recently donated a Chrismas tree to Maseru City Council and launched a Christmas album to celebrate the festive season.

At the beginning of December, Limkokwing University Lesotho proudly donated a colourful 12 metre high Christmas tree to Maseru City Council.

The official lighting of the tree on 4 December saw the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Mothejoa Metsing, who officiated the event; Hon. Malebitso Ralebitso, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; Hon. Joang Molapo, Minister of Home Affairs; Deputy Mayor of Maseru; Town Clerk, industry captains and the public.

An outdoor event, the sudden thunderstorms that enveloped the event did not dampen the spirit of the guests and the public that gathered from early on to witness the biggest Christmas tree in Lesotho being lit.

The Hon Mothejoa Metsing thanked the University for the gift of the Christmas tree and for instilling the spirit of Christmas amongst the Basotho.

A week later, on 12 December, Limkokwing University Lesotho hosted a choral music concert at the Maseru United Church where it also launched a Christmas album titled ‘Be the Best this Festive.’

The album comprises of 10 festive tracks produced, recorded and mastered in-house by Limkokwing University students, and the songs were already playing in local radio stations.

Present at the event were the Hon. Litsoane Litsoane (Minister of Agriculture), Keratile Thabane (Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education representing Minister of Education Makabelo Mosothoana), Limkokwing staff, students and University alumni.

“I was pleased to learn that students and staff of Limkokwing are ahead in giving back to the community through several charity projects under their Heal the World Foundation platform,” Thabane said.

She also expressed great pleasure on sharing the spirit of Christmas with people who attended the event.

Marcia Mangadi, Limkokwing University Regional Director elaborated that Limkokwing University recognises and nurtures talents and the album was the University’s way of promoting these talents.

“We believe that education should go beyond the classroom perimeters. We also think that talent should be used to positively heal the world through charity platforms,” she added.

The University also donated M2,000 to the Maseru United Church that day.
