Limkokwing University concluded the first week of “Enabling Innovation“ Orientation Programme on campus on 26 Feb.

This week’s theme, “Design Yourself” enabled new students to experience and learn about different cultures while exploring their own strengths and weaknesses.

The Orientation Programme began with a video presentation which featured campus activities, cultural performances and introduction to the Global University Campus Programme.

Students were later given a tour around the campus to learn about its history and learnt how they could utilise University’s facilities to experience a conducive learning environment.

The campus activities included choir performances, talent presentation and game activities to broaden their creative potential and teamwork spirit in preparation for classes.

Faculty representatives presented students with comprehensive guidance on career prospects based on the courses available. New students were introduced to the University’s International Student Ambassadors to facilitate communication and assistance in regards to their educational needs, registration process and living accommodations.

“I made a lot of friends from different countries and met people from different cultures,” said Russian-Yemeni student Liza Al-Dhobai.

She is pursuing a course in Creative Multimedia and emphasised the importance of multiculturalism in her profession.

“You get to know how other people think and how to approach new ideas to solve problems,” she said. “This would help me a lot in my future career.”

For Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Professional Design (Visual Communication) student Zinal Joshi from India, the University’s diversity would help her to foster cultural awareness to help her succeed.

“You get to enjoy the sense of humanity here and learn that everyone is no different than yourself,” she said. “I gain input from people from different cultures and backgrounds to learn global standards so I could work on a global level.”

Limkokwing University’s orientation programme is conducted to ensure students receive the fullest benefit from their learning experience. The programme enables students to familiarise themselves with the University’s multicultural learning environment through campus tours, team building and group activities.
