Lee Kim An - The Cambodian Creative

14 September 2020

As Cambodia prepares to host the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023, our alumna Lee Kim An from the Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture programme made her mark as she emerged a winner at the nationwide mascot design competition for the upcoming games.

Lee Kim An is currently working with WorldBridge Group Cambodia – a company founded in 1992 which does business with potential sectors including construction, real estate, finance, food and beverage, and e-commerce. It’s vision is to pioneer projects in Cambodia that will help steer human capital development in the country.

Giving us insights on how she felt after winning the competition, Lee Kim An said she was grateful for the opportunity to represent Cambodia at a prestigious event as the SEA games. “I was speechless the moment I knew that I had won. For me, it wasn’t just about winning the competition, but it is something I always wanted to do. I am so proud to have achieved my lifelong dream which is to represent my country. I never thought I’d have the opportunity to do something that would make history especially for an event as big as the SEA games.”

With every opportunity comes a challenge Lee Kim An had to put extra effort in her work as she did not have a graphic design background.

“The biggest challenge faced was that I was not a graphic design student, nor did I know anything about drawing cartoons, so I had to do a lot of research on design. I had many sleepless nights but they all paid off when I received the award.”

Unmatched Studying experience

In sharing her education adventure and unforgettable experience studying at Limkokwing, Lee Kim An said, “My life at Limkokwing University was full of surprises! It was totally different from high school as our assignments and tasks were more like real life projects. I had many sleepless nights but all of it was worth it because in the end, the results are what matter. It taught me many things that I didn’t learn in high school.”

“I believe that whatever programme one pursues at Limkokwing University be it design, business, or IT, we can work together to help improve our society in terms of Business Development, Infrastructure, Designs and Technology to help economic growth and to help build a better country for the future.”
