Students from across faculties participated in the Africa Business Day event on 31 November.

The event was organised by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia (MITI) together with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Sponsored by Limkokwing University, Africa Business Day was in collaboration with African High Commissions and Embassies in Malaysia and Malaysia African Professional and Entrepreneurs Association (MAPE).

The main objective of the event was to promote trade and investment between African countries and Malaysia. It featured a business seminar, concurrent sectoral workshops, table top exhibitions of Malaysian and African companies, business meetings and industry visits.

Limkokwing University students from over 20 African countries and 10 international countries had an opportunity to showcase the African culture through dance, poetry and a fashion show exhibiting an array of traditional attires from various regions of Africa.

MATRADE Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Susila Devi expressed her appreciation to the University students for their strong and evident participation in the event.

“The students of Limkokwing University did a wonderful job of creating all the visuals around us. The creative work that they have done proves and endorses the notion that Limkokwing definitely produces one of the most creative group of students you can ever find.”

The Limkokwing Vice President, Dato’ Fajura Juffa, thanked MITI, MATRADE, MIDA and the Dean of the African ambassadors in Malaysia, His Excellency Cuthbert Zakata, for inviting Limkokwing to participate in the event.

“It is most appropriate that the University is tangibly associated to this event. The President, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Lim Kok Wing, personally has great passion and vision for Africa.

“Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing sees beyond the media caricature of Africa as the continent affected by conflict and poverty, to see talented young people with great potential to achieve and be the best that they can be, if they are given a chance.”

Limkokwing University has an expansive presence in Africa. It has campuses in Botswana, Sierra Leone, Lesotho and Swaziland.

The University strives to equip African graduates with leadership and entrepreneurial skills to develop new businesses and drive the economic agendas of their respective countries.
