Global Campus students invited to watch Sky1’s ‘Got to Dance 2014’ semi-final live in London

7 October 2014

The latest group of Limkokwing London’s Global Campus students were invited to watch Sky 1’s hit TV show ‘Got to Dance’ live.

Hosted by Davina McCall, with Ashley Banjo and Kimberly Wyatt as judges, ‘Got to Dance’ is a hit reality TV dance competition shown live to UK audience on the Sky 1 channel. The semifinal show was held on 26 August at Earl’s Court Arena in London.

The students arrived early for the 7.30pm show and got to watch the crew set up the incredible stage setting and lightings. For the semi-final that night, a total of six contestants took to the stage to vie for three spots in the finals that will be held on 29 August.

Kimberley Wyatt, who was five months pregnant, performed live on the night and made the show much more exciting and interesting with her beautiful dance routine. The co-host for the semi-final, Youtube sensation Joe Suggs aka ThatcherJoe did a good job entertaining the audience during the break. ThatcherJoe was like a ‘high in sugar’ energy drink that kept the crowd dancing and cheering. As soon as he mentioned giving away “special edition t-shirts”, the students joined the audience in doing whatever they could to grab his attention.

Radhi Hasan, a second semester student studying Bachelors of Information and Communication Technology said watching the show live for the first time was a surprise to him. He mentioned that seeing the show live made him noticed the dancers being exact in their timing. He said, “Timing is very important and that is how the performers danced perfectly and made no mistakes during the show”.

Siham Shahnaz, a sixth semester student studying Bachelors of Arts in Broadcasting and Journalism enjoyed the show a lot and said that she was grateful for the chance to watch it live. She also said how excited she was when she heard the university planned a visit to the show and now she is learning how to run a live show herself.

For the semi-final show that night, the students and the audience of 6,000 people (mostly teenagers) were constantly on their feet cheering for their favourite acts. The three acts that went to the finals of Sky1’s ‘Got to Dance’ were Kaine Ward, Original Kidz, and the crowds’ favourite, IMD.
