In a single evening, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology presented the future’s brightest fashion personalities with an extravagant runway show at the Black Box, Publika. The ‘Creativity in Motion’ fashion show was the centre of attention as the graduating students of Fashion & Retail Design displayed their best creations.

Every year, students from the Faculty of Fashion & Lifestyle Creativity make every effort to convert their ideas into innovative collections. The evening showcased 53 garments by 16 student designers from nine countries on 26 models from 15 countries.

The event was graced by fashion designers Hugh Koh (Creative Director, Pestle & Mortar Clothing), Calvin Thoo and Nisa Mazbar; Industrialists, Executive Advisor of Tangerine Models and Limkokwing graduate, Faris Waris; representatives from 5 Steve Madden (sponsored shoes for the event); bloggers, Kee Hua Chee and Choulyn Tan; members of media; students and guests. They were accompanied by Limkokwing University Associate Vice President and Fashion Club Creative Director, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim.

“I have been attending Limkokwing’s fashion event for the past three years, it has been improving a lot and I like the idea of having their students to parade and perform. I have to be very honest with the students’ creativity, I must say that they are very creative but they need to put a little more effort on the workmanship because it’s the part that’s most expensive,” said Cyber fashion designer/Consultant, Hideaki Lim.

Hideaki added, “It was a fantastic show. It has been a very good platform for the students to reach globally. After 20 years, I think the fashion industry in Malaysia is definitely growing. We need more international platform to bring out the talents internationally.”

“I really love fashion and I’m living with it. I like playing with the fabrication and the colours on my designs. Limkokwing University has given me many opportunities to prove myself through creativity. With the help of the University, I have won first prize in few fashion design competitions. The University has thought me to be who I am right now,” said Iranian student, Seyed Pedram Mirsadeghi.

“I feel privileged to be a part of the students, seeing their journey from their first step into the campus and seeing how confident they are and how professional like they looked during the show. Fashion as an industry has never been more exciting, I think the world is looking at Asia and young designers for inspiration and direction. At a show like this, you can tell that passion and great work comes from everywhere in the world,” said Limkokwing University Associate Vice President and Fashion Club Creative Director, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim.

Dato’ Tiffanee added, “For any young designer, what you are looking for is a system of support, a way where you can be heard and a place where you can feel confident and safe. That’s the most important thing being at Limkokwing where you find people like you, love what you do love and will support you in every step of the way and it’s all right here.”

With students from more than 160 countries worldwide, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is at the forefront of launching new stars into the professional industry.
