On 16 May 2022, Malaysia officially celebrated Teachers’ Day; two weeks later, on 2 June 2022, Limkokwing University hosted a group of teachers from several schools in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and the Sepang districts for a friendly session at the campus.

They were warmly received by the University management and staff at the Hall of Fame where the event was held. In addressing them, the Vice-Chancellor of Limkokwing University, Dato’ Prof Dr Hj Mohd Razali Agus paid tribute to their role as educators of the future leaders of Malaysia.

He said the gathering coincided with the first anniversary of the passing of the late Founder and President of Limkokwing University Tan Sri Dato Dr Limkokwing in June last year. The Vice-Chancellor was positive the visit would pave the way to “foster a closer academic relationship between Limkokwing University and the schools.”

The teachers were from SMK Putrajaya Presint 91 and SMK Sg Pelek, Sepang; for some, it was their second visit to Limkokwing University in recent months. They were clearly excited to be in the University famed for its focus on creativity, innovation and skills-set empowerment – the bedrock of work-ready graduates.

History teacher Danial Ramli spoke from his heart; he intoned that “teaching people” is the highlight of his teaching career, something that he will always value.

Biology teacher Latiffah Yusof took the opportunity to express her heartfelt “thank you” to Tan Sri Limkokwing for two distinct reasons.

One, as a teacher; she was inspired by him to “bring up” her son on the right creative career path and, second as a mother, Tan Sri Limkokwing’s emphasis on creative education motivated him to take up Mobile Computing. Today, her son, from the Class of 2009, is doing well in Bank Negara Malaysia.

Signing off, she echoed Tan Sri Limkokwing’s famous words: “You never know how high you can fly until you try.”

In voicing the sentiments of his fellow teachers, teacher Affandi shared that “creativity is the key” to unlocking the future. He said he has always been inspired by the global success of the University and its graduates. He has since made it his responsibility to nurture the creativity of his students at SMK Sg Pelek.

Later, the teachers and their hosts intermingled at the sumptuous dinner together with staff and other invited guests.

Concluding, Dato Razali urged the teachers present at the event to inculcate in their students a passion for creativity for they are the change-makers of tomorrow. The Vice-Chancellor reminded them: “When we talk about creativity, diversity and innovation, Limkokwing University is the place to be.”
