Home-grown animation studio, Digital Durian, the creator of Malaysia’s most loved preschool cartoons, Didi & Friends and Omar & Hana, visited Limkokwing University on 28 June 2018 for an industry review of FMC students’ final year projects.

Didi & Friends is now one of the country’s most popular preschool TV programmes, and has garnered well over 700 million Youtube reviews.

Having already made a name for itself on the local market, the animation studio is now planning to tap the Middle East market, including Dubai.

Creative Director, Zainul Wahab, said he was impressed with how Limkokwing students are able to fine tune the balance between a good content and the creativity part of it.

A New Experience

“It was a new experience for me because I was able to see how different students from various countries were showcasing their products, especially adding elements that represents their respective countries,” said Zainul.

He was particularly impressed with the motion graphic presentation by students, saying it really had a very good creative touch.

“Apart from creative elements, it is also equally important to present good content, because at the end of the day, it is your story that sells,” said Zainul.

“The multicultural environment here is something you don’t easily come across these days, and for that, Limkokwing University certainly has the edge in terms of creative and innovative approach towards education,” he added.

A Valuable Experience

Overall, Zainul said it was a valuable experience for him and his team, and he looked forward to having Limkokwing students in his team very soon.

“Attitude, teamwork, communication and creativity are the key attributes that we would look for in future employees, and I can strongly say that Limkokwing students certainly meet all the requirements,” said Zainul at the end of the review.
