Thirty seven models from twenty five countries took a catwalk at the Limkokwing University’s Creativity in Motion graduate fashion show on 5th July 2014, Saturday evening at the Black Box, Publika.

The show hosted by students Malaz El Naim from United Kingdom (Masters in Communication) and Nadhir Asyraf from Malaysia (Foundation in Communication) and at the centre of attention were eighteen student designers of Fashion & Retail Design displaying their best creations. Every year, the fashion students make every effort to convert their ideas into innovated collections.

The event was graced by fashion designers, Joe Chia and Celeste Thoi; ELITE makeup artist and education manager, Lisa Yap; Managing Director of AT Globalwear Concept Sdn Bhd (TOMS), Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Zawawi; Miss Universe Malaysia 2014, Sabrina Benneet; Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 and National Director of Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation, Carey Ng; members of media; students and guests. They were accompanied by Limkokwing University Founder and President, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Dr Limkokwing; Limkokwing University Vice President and CEO of Centre for Content Creation, Dato Timothy Limkokwing Jr; Limkokwing University Associate Vice President and Fashion Club Creative Director, Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim.

The talented student designers as they land into their young careers made strong statements with their unique designs inspired by themes ranging from medieval art, structured Egyptian moved pieces and more. The fashion event had sponsors from Shu Uemura, L’Oreal Professionnel, Cu’s & Do’s Hair Lounge, Steve Madden, TOMS and the Malay Mail.

“I had seen many good work on the runway during the show. Fashion industry right now is growing really fast, definitely schools like Limkokwing and others are producing good designers who can bring up Malaysia’s fashion scene into the international,” said fashion designer Joe Chia.

The event was also filled with power packed performances by winner of Astro’s ‘The Band’ talent show, Ayu Gurnitha (Limkokwing alumna) and singer and 8TV Quickie presenter, Mark O’Dea (Limkokwing student).

Miss Universe Malaysia 2013, Carey Ng said, “I definitely saw lots of interesting innovation and that’s really important for creativity. I’m very fascinated with the students’ boldness. They did not only caught on to the trends but also injected their personalities in it. There’s a great potential in this students.”

“Limkokwing University has prepared its students thoroughly in their specific industries as you can see from this fashion show. Limkokwing Fashion Club’s pieces appeals to the market that is ready now,” added Carey.

Managing Director of TOMS Malaysia, Ahmad Fahmi said, “The students’ work are very high in fashion. We believe Limkokwing graduates can do well in the industry.”

With students from more than 160 countries worldwide, the University has been in the forefront in launching new stars into the professional industry.
