D’ Touch International signed a memorandum of understanding with Limkokwing University on 1 November 2019 for a period of four years in provision of scholarships to selected winners for this year’s Miss Tourism International.

The President of Miss Malaysia International, Tan Sri Danny Ooi received a red carpet welcome to the University’s flagship campus accompanied by contestants from over 50 countries who got an opportunity to tour the campus and learn about its education philosophy and its accomplishments.

During a previous meeting with Tan Sri Danny Ooi in October; Founder and President of Limkokwing Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Paduka Limkokwing highlighted the importance of changing the image of beauty contests by empowering women with education.

“We see them as young women who need to be educated,” Tan Sri Limkokwing commented.

Giving her comment, the University’s Director of Corporate Communications, Maizura Mahathir said that Limkokwing allows students to choose their career paths regardless of their educational background.

“Students from over 160 countries around the world have made our University Asia’s Most international University and anyone who studies here will be able to explore the world and experience the beauty of diversity within” she added.

Miss Iceland Suna Jonsdottir expressed that the diverse environment gives students a unique scope to learn about different cultures and traditions on a more personal level.

One of the contestants,  Imana Sokolovis, from Bosnia and Herzegovina said that Limkokwing’s Cyberjaya campus looks like a small city that has everything needed for students.

“I would definitely pursue my studies at Limkokwing University. I think it is a creative environment that I would love to spend years in,” she said.

She also added that she got emotional during the tour in the presidential library after learning historical significant works by the president of Limkokwing University.

“When I saw a Bosnia poster and how they helped during the war time I had tears in my eyes,” she said.

Kseniya Asavitskaya from Belarus said that the campus setup was impressing. She added that what they learned about the University’s history during the tour of the campus facilities, presidential library, creative multimedia labs and the branding gallery was influential.

“I enjoyed the multicultural environment and I think Limkokwing’s students are very lucky to be here. I am excited to join them soon,” she said.

Miss Tourism International (MTI) pageant is the 3rd most international pageant in the world. It was established in Malaysia with the aim to promote Malaysia’s tourism industry and attracts bright sparks from all 5 continents, who grow to love and admire Malaysia.

The contest also serves as a platform to educate and encourage cultural exchange among participating delegates. The pageant was first held in 1994 at Kuching, Sarawak, with 23 contestants.

More than 40 contestants from the Miss Tourism International pageant visited Limkokwing University back in November 2017.
