Dr. Mina Manjurul Hossain Reza: On a mission to promote equal health services for all

23 May 2022

Dr. Mina Manjurul Hossain Reza has to date published fifteen Scopus indexed articles in Human Resource Management, Leadership, Psychological Empowerment, Women Empowerment, TQM, and Industrial Relations. He is now a manager of Human Resources and Administration at Z.H. Sikder Medical College & Hospital - a company that’s on a mission to produce more doctors who will ensure equal health facilities/services at all levels of society.

Before joining the company, he had almost six years of corporate experience working for different organisations in Bangladesh.

Z.H. Sikder Medical College & Hospital aims to empower more women doctors in societies. Not only does it do that, but it is also heavily involved in corporate social responsibility activities by regularly donating to the less advantaged.

Having acquired a PhD in Management with a focus on Human Resource Management from Limkokwing University and Bangladesh institute of management, Dr. Hossain Reza said he gained a lot of knowledge through industry standard research methods which he’s now applying in his current role.

On his favourite projects, he said, “I’m always most excited about writing on human resource management (reward management), administration, and leadership or managerial leadership. My last article was about the total reward system and employee performance. This is my favourite because it narrates and analyses employees’ basic need which is reward and this article showed how employee performance is affected by the total rewards system.”

Even though Dr. Hossein Reza’s biggest achievement to date is graduating with a PhD that did not come without challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. “It was a great challenge to finish my PhD during the pandemic. The pandemic created a huge mental pressure. PhD is a tough challenge and then pandemic came, so this both presented a huge challenge to finish my PhD. But my self-confidence and the intangible help of GOD and my prayer make me successful.”

Giving advice to those pursuing a postgraduate degree he said, “Number one is ‘know how to conduct PhD research or how to write a PhD thesis sequentially,’ number two ‘self-confidence’, and number three is ‘patience, these three things are most important for any person who wants to do PhD, without these 3 thing nobody can do PhD.”
