Limkokwing University Lesotho hosted its 15th annual orientation from 10 - 12 August 2022 at the Lehakoe Sports and Recreational Centre. Themed “Paving the Way for Future Ready Graduates”, it was sponsored by Vodacom, First National Bank & Lesotho Post Bank. It was designed to induct the 2022 cohort of incoming students of opportunities, facilities, and lifestyle available at Limkokwing University.

Notable guests at the ceremony were; The Manager Tertiary from The Ministry of Education & Training, The Ministry of Health, The National Manpower Secretariat, Limkokwing industry advisors, local financial institutions, telecommunications companies, NGOs, Beautiful Dream Society, Mental Health Associations, Lesotho Defense Force, industry movers and shakers and Limkokwing Highflyers.

The Registrar, Mrs. ‘Mateboho Moorosi made students aware of the challenges they might face during their academic journey and introduced the University’s Campus Management team so that students know who to consult regarding any concerns they may have.

The newly admitted students were grouped into their respective faculties and were formally introduced to faculty managers, lectures, and were familiarised with their academic schedules as well as the campus through a campus tour.

Financial institutions such as The First National Bank, The Lesotho Post Bank, Nedbank and The Central Bank of Lesotho attended the orientation to enlighten students on how to be financially savvy throughout their academic journey.Tips on how to maintain their savings account, how to identify and avoid financial scams and the benefits they can reap from using each bank were some of the few topics shared with the freshmen.

Health institutions such as The Ministry of Health, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association (LPPA), Child & Gender Protection Unit (CGPU), PSI Lesotho, JHPIEGO, Road Safety, TeP Mental Health Association enlightened students on the health facilities and trainings available to them. Topics such as the importance of contraceptives, cervical cancer, human trafficking awareness, PReP, PEP and the injectable, voluntary medical male circumcision & HIV testing, mental health and the importance of COVID-19 vaccination and boosters were discussed with the students.

Special performances by local gospel artists graced the orientation stage and led the prayer session to start the day. These are the likes of Minister Spokes, Takie Ndou and Keneiloe Hope.
Some new students mentioned that they found the orientation quite informative. They mentioned that they were looking forward to commencing the academic year and were fired up about being Limkokwing students.
