Bangladesh wins Best Booth Creativity award at the Limkokwing International Cultural Festival 2018

Every May, thousands throng to Limkokwing University for the international cultural festival were students from over 150 countries showcase their culture through traditional performances, art, food, costumes and country booth displays.

Among many exciting activities, students tap into their architectural talents by designing booths that mimic their country’s most famous landmarks and historical places.

At the end of the festival they are awarded prizes on how creatively they executed the booth design.

Other categories they compete in are Outstanding Costume and Best Cultural Performance.

This year’s Limkokwing International Cultural Festival held on 10 May 2018 was again recognized by The Malaysia Book of Records for having the most number of country representatives ever participating in a cultural festival with 110 delegates attending!

This year, the award for the best booth was won by students from Bangladesh.

On where they drew inspiration from, Sadia Mustafa who is studying for a Masters in Digital Film and Television, said they were influenced by Ahsan Manzil, the former official residential palace of the Nawab of Dhaka.

“It is one of the most significant architectural monuments of Bangladesh and represents the golden times of our culture,” added Sadia.

On having the opportunity to participate in the cultural festival Sadia said, “I feel proud to represent my country in such an international platform. Many people can know about my country and learn how rich our culture is.”

Not only does the cultural festival promote unity, tolerance and cultural understanding amongst the community it is also provides an opportunity for students to tap into their creative abilities to sharpen their skills in various fields such as design, branding, communication, fashion, sound and music and lastly performance arts.
