Limkokwing University welcomed Supt. Tharamadurai R from the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) on 21 September 2017 to discuss opportunities in educational partnership related to the fight against cybercrime.

A specialist in education and training, Supt. Tharamadurai shared current law enforcement strategies on social media and other digital platforms during his visit to the Cyberjaya campus, and also opened discussions on partnering with the University to boost RMP’s online capability to combat cybercrime.

The partnership will see Limkokwing University utilize its industry-leading expertise in digital media to assist RMP by conducting research, providing training venues and developing learning modules specifically designed to enhance the cybercrime combat-readiness of the Malaysian police force.

This will include information communication, online forensics, and related courses to identify internet-related crime and monitor suspicious online activities like online fraud, international scams, extortion, and terror-related offences.

It is hoped that the collaboration will enable RMP to develop innovative methods and creative strategies, and acquire the capabilities to meet the future challenges of the digital age.
